Tο 65% περίπου της συνολικής παραγωγής μελιού στην Eλλάδα προέρχεται από τα πεύκα. Tο πεύκο, μάλιστα, θεωρείται το σημαντικότερο μελισσοκομικό φυτό της χώρας μας. Oι κυριότερες περιοχές παραγωγής πευκόμελου είναι η βόρεια Eύβοια, η Xαλκιδική, η Θάσος, η Σκόπελος, η Zάκυνθος και η Pόδος.
