Bakery Products

All the glory of the Greek culinary tradition is found in the simple, bakery products. Barley, ancient grain, is still the most popular material for the manufacture of the rusks and bread. Durum wheat, rye, and in some areas (the most famous is Crete) chickpeas yeast are the preferred materials. They are full of nutrients. But perhaps more than anything else, these known since ancient times double baked pastries are the healthiest fast food of the Mediterranean, which can easily become the basis for a salad or for more hearty soup in the bowl.
